I’m back! It’s hard for me to get here during my weekends, which is Friday-Sunday for me, because I don’t have any classes on Friday and I work allll weekend. It’s also hard for me to get any homework done during the weekend, because I’d much rather be a couch potato, simply laying on the couch and watching tv..nothing else. So during the week I work in a frenzy to get all my homework done before my classes, simply put I don’t really have a lot of time for Jibberish. BUT! I’m going to try my hardest, I’m thinking about just posting once a week about a whole bunch of stuff and if I think of something that you must know before my next post I’ll sprinkle those in as well. This post however besides apologizing for leaving you hanging and not knowing if I’ll ever be back, will not be a week post, but a sprinkle. I also am thinking about starting a Jibberish Tumblr, so even though I can’t update you everyday here, maybe a Tumblr would be nice? What are your thoughts?

My beau has an older brother who lives in New York City and during Christmas time when he was home, said we were more than welcome to come visit! I haven’t told you yet, but NYC is on my must visit list! I”ll be going in July for four days, not sure if the four days will include flying in and out, but I’m only being allowed one “tourist” day. Not fair I know, there’s so much I want to see and I don’t want to miss out. So I need to create a list of places to see more than anything and I’m hoping you guys will help me out! If you’ve been there and know some amazing places that I haven’t listed, please tell me!

tumblr_mi1bx5i3SM1qdfd4co1_500Sorry everyone, I wasn’t able to post yesterday and this will be my only post today I’ve got a nice work schedule setup what with Michaels and Starbucks, the weekends are hard to crack one out. (Yes I know I can schedule posts, in fact this one is!) I’ll do better next weekend, promise. Here’s an adorable gif so you don’t hate me! 🙂

Advice + Food

Yesterday, I mentioned that I had five followers, but I didn’t mention that I have yet to receive comments. I would really love it if those of you who have liked and/or following my blog to give me some pointers. Am I doing something wrong? Am I at all interesting? Anything, I would really appreciate some feedback here.

Also an update on my Valentines Day, the boyfriend and I went to Ruby Tuesdays this afternoon for a late lunch and then headed over to the little Antique Mall here in Grand Forks. I really meant to bring my camera, but I didn’t think we’d actually get to go, so I left it at home. Anyways, we tried their Asian Dumplings, very delicious, especially the peanut sauce that they drizzle on the plate and have in a dipping saucer. I thought it was a brilliant idea to lightly sprinkle the potstickers with poppy and sesame seeds. Must try that for when I (hopefully) get around to making another batch of potstickers. I found this amazing recipe for pork potstickers a few months ago and I love it, check it out at Use Real Butter. Her recipe(s) are easy to follow and she provides pictures along the way. My only problem with making potstickers though was the part where you add water to hot oil (scary!).

Oh and yesterday I found this truly amazing tea at work, if you like tea, aren’t picky, and you like fruity tea seriously give this tea a try!

(Image from Saucy Sprinkles, who also has a great copycat version of Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade)

Valentines Day + DIY + Life

Happy Valentines Day everyone (especially to those who are now following my blog!). I haven’t done any networking whatsoever yet because I think it’d be best to get some more content before I go about advertising my blog, but I do have five followers that I don’t know personally. So thank you guys! My Valentines day plans aren’t very exciting, class and work, however I did skip my second class (drawing) because I personally hate what were working on right now, mine is not coming out right so I plan on redoing it this weekend. Tomorrow though I don’t have anything going on besides work around six, so hopefully the boyfriend and I can do something maybe…we’re both kind of broke!

I was looking on pinterest to find some cute ideas for Valentines Day, if I were to have money, I would definitely whip up some of these nommy looking love day fortune cookies!

vday fortune

You can find out how to make them at Sugar For The Brain a super cute blog that’s chalked full of some sugary recipes.

So remember how I said I was working on a 3D star in ceramics? Well here it is and it’s now a starfish, pretty fancy eh?

It not done yet of course, it still needs to be fired and then glazed (if we glaze it), but the color that you see on it already is slip color, the middle is white and the outer color will be blue once its been fired and not bisqueware anymore. Also the top point is supposed to look like it’s not attached because it isn’t, it’ll be the lid for my “container.”

What did you do for Valentines Day?

Cookie Jar

cookie jar

I finally got to use my cookie jar that I bought on Thursday at Michael’s! I saw it and was like “I need that!” Even though I really didn’t need a cookie jar, it’s so hard not to buy items from work, what can I say, I’m an impulse shopper. Anyways, the beau and roomate absolutely love it when I make my oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and the recipes nothing special either. It’s actually Quaker’s Vanishing Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, I just switch out the raisins for chocolate chips.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1/2  cup (1 stick) plus 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 3/4  cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2  cup granulated sugar
  • 2  eggs
  • 1  teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-1/2  cups all-purpose flour
  • 1  teaspoon baking soda
  • 1  teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2  teaspoon salt (optional) I always do this, I like the sweet and salty.
  • 3 cups QuakerÂŽ Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
  • 1  cup or more 😉 chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, beat butter and sugars on medium speed of electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; mix well. Add oats and raisins; mix well.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered.

I usually have to bake them for about 11 minutes.

  • Prep Time: 20 min
  • Cook Time Time: 08 min

If you haven’t yet tried Quaker’s Oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips, I highly recommend it, so yummy and easy.

Firenze Arti Artisive

University of North Dakota has some great opportunities to study abroad in Europe such as: Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. I will study at The Firenze Arti Visive School of Fine Arts (featured above) before I graduate with my BFA in Graphic Design. I’ll figure out a way to pay for it, because not only would I love to visit, backpack, and live in Italy I would love more than anything to study art in the heart of Florence, Italy! Which reminds me, adding another item to my bucketlist!

Yesterday Grand Forks got hit with a small “blizzard,” it was mostly strong winds blowing a fair amount of snow around and creating nasty drifts. The only good thing about this “blizzard” was that I got to sleep in an hour later..yeah not so great. Classes were cancelled until 10 AM while NDSU’s classes were just cancelled, I know I sound like a whiny five-year old, but adult or not who doesn’t love a snow day?! My beau offered to drive me to work last night and I almost said no, I love that he offers, but it’s the twenty-first century and I’m a big girl. However, I drive a ’04 Chrysler Sebring Convertible and she’s not a “big” girl in that kind of weather. I just got her this past summer, my mum keeps saying she wants to get me an actual big girl car that’s reliable in the winter. Psh. No!

My morning class is ceramics and I got a lollipop for actually showing up! Woo! However, I’m kind of behind on my geometric container. I’m making a 3D star and one of points will be the lid. I also (finally) glazed my first assignment, which was five pinch pots with different design techniques. In my drawing II class were working on a self-portrait (yay! not.) using an ink pad and applicator, such as a pencil eraser.

The other day I found this amazing Sea Glass Jar DIY and I just so happen to have these adorable glass jugs that I plan on applying the diy too! I’ll have pictures of my progress on my art & craft projects up as soon as possible.
